Grief Tending
Trauma Healing
Finding your soul’s path through the dark woods of loss.

“Where there is sorrow, there is holy ground.”
Oscar Wilde
You’re feeling lost…
You may have just lost a parent, a partner, a child, a pet, a relationship, and have no idea how to deal with the pain and emptiness that is here. Your life is not recognizable from how it was before, and society is telling you to “move on” and keep going, but you can’t.
Or you may have been going on with your life, years after loss or trauma, and suddenly it is staring at you in the face again. You are tearful, overwhelmed, dissociated, and it’s impacting your work, your relationships, and you don’t know what to do. You may wonder what is wrong with you, and feel terrified to be facing this again.
You Long for Support…
In the past, a village or community would provide us collective holding and tradition for healing from trauma and deep loss. We would be guided, understood, and given pathways to work and be with the loss. Now, we are told we need to do it alone.
But that simply isn’t how healing works. As humans, we were meant to heal and grieve together, whether that is with one other, or a group. We are wired for connection.
You want to find a path..
We all need a lantern, and a hand, a place to land to help us on the path through which we walk with grief and trauma when our lives have changed so intensely. Our souls long for the depths in loss, but we are afraid that if we step into that depth, we may never come back.
I have seen time and again that stepping into the grief process with a compassionate guide is what CAN bring us back to life. Through one-on-one therapy, group work, or community grief rituals, I love providing support for compassionately tending to these deeply hurt places, and infusing meaning and depth into this place of loss, allowing wisdom and spaciousness for all of life’s experiences to grow.
Grieving is an ancient human process and something I love to help my clients remember and receive nourishment from.
Jessica Malmberg, LMFT
Hello, and welcome to my practice! I’m a licensed Marriage and Family Therapist in Santa Rosa, CA, working in person and virtually in California.
I am a fellow grief-tender, of my own grief, and the sorows of the wolrd. I work with with adults and teens who are sensitive, anxious, deep-feelers who are facing loss or trauma, and help them find their soul’s path through the dark. I welcome Neurodivergent adults and teens, or those who feel they may have ADHD or ASD but aren’t sure. Highly sensitive people are welcome here.
My clients have the chance to open to a more loving, connected relationship with all parts of themselves, including the dark and sad ones. (They often have so much wisdom for us!) I am passionate about the work of tending grief and healing trauma and my goal is to help you find more wholeness, belonging and aliveness in the world.
Find the vitality that comes when your grief is witnessed and held, when you feel what needs to be felt, creating room for the sorrow as well as joy, curiosity, and play.

Grief Work
“Where there is sorrow there is holy ground.” (Oscar Wilde) Loss brings us to the deepest parts of ourselves, tender and raw, despairing and beautiful. Our culture, so addicted to the quest for happiness, can leave us alone and lost at a time we most need to feel held. I aim to help you find ground in this grief, to reframe its importance, to learn to befriend and know it, and find the richness in this precious work of mourning and loving the one you lost, whether it is through death, divorce, earth loss, or others.

Trauma Healing
Experiences of trauma can truly disrupt our lives. Whether it is a single event or recurring stressors, we need help and support to process and integrate these experiences. Through work with proven modalities such as Brainspotting, I can help you come into a place of safety, connectedness, and flexibility, so you no longer have to be in an activated state, or removed dissociated state. I welcome those who have experienced perinatal loss, fire survivors, medical professionals, and those with childhood trauma, and more.

Soul Work
Integral to my work is a sense of tending the soul, garnering an internal relationship with the self and the cosmos. Working with soul, we welcome the dark places, the wounds, the sorrows, and in so doing we create acceptance, and spaciousness where joy and connection can emerge. Tuning into ourselves as interconnected with the air, the sun, the trees, our community, we can feel more welcomed as part of this life, and have places to bring all of our experience. The works of Francis Weller, Carl Jung, and Clarissa Pinkola Estés, among others, inform my work in this realm.

Neurodivergent Affirming
I welcome children and adults who are Autistic, have ADHD, Sensory Processing Sensitivities and unique ways of being in the world, to my practice. While neurodivergence brings its challenges to living in the modern world, I am continually inspired by the insights, creativity and heart brought by the clients I am honored to get to know. I offer the Safe and Sound Protocol to help increase regulation for those with social anxiety and sensory sensitivities.

Gender Affirming, LGBTQ+ Celebrating
I welcome the beautiful spectrum of queer folx to my practice. I follow the lead of each client to support what needs attention, and what is emerging on their journey through life. I have experience working with people at various stages of gender transition.

Adults and Teens
I welcome adult individuals, families, teens and children to my practice. I work with a mixture of depth work, mindfulness, and specialties such as Brainspotting to create a container where healing, acceptance and deepening can take place, which is unique to each person or family. I enjoy getting to know you and the unique being that you are. When working with children I offer play therapy, art and sandtray, as well as talk therapy. I can offer the Safe and Sound Protocol as an option to increase emotional regulation and decrease social anxiety.
